Published Wed, 19 Feb 2025 00:18:07 GMT

DENVER (KDVR) — The 2024 elections are more than a year away, but a new poll shows Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert could be in for another tight race in 2024. Our political analysts discuss that new poll, and the future of Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District on Colorado Point of View. The poll conducted by the left-leaning Global Strategy Group shows Rep. Boebert tied with Democratic challenger Adam Frisch at 45%. The poll also found voters are leaning toward Republicans on a generic ballot by 11%.The 3rd Congressional District was the closest race in the entire country in 2022. Our political analysts said this shows it will be close again next year. COPOV: GOP groups call Rep. Caraveo’s seat ‘vulnerable’ in 2024 “There’s a lot to be said and done on Election Day. What’s interesting for Democrats though is this is a really solid red district and in re-districting in 2020, it became more solidly red,” FOX31/Channel 2 political analysts and Democratic strategist Andy Boian said. “It ...

GOP groups call Rep. Caraveo’s seat ‘vulnerable’ in 2024

Published Wed, 19 Feb 2025 00:18:07 GMT

DENVER (KDVR) — This week marks 100 days since the 118th Congress took over in Washington D.C. but one of Colorado’s new representatives may already be in the hot seat. House republicans are targeting Rep. Yadira Caraveo (D-Colorado) and her seat in Colorado’s competitive 8th Congressional District in 2024.We talk with Rep. Caraveo about Republicans aiming for her seat, and much more, this week on Colorado Point of View. The National Republican Congressional Committee listed Rep. Caraveo’s seat as one of 37 that are “vulnerable” in 2024. Meanwhile the conservative, “American Action Network” launched a campaign a last month pushing the Congresswoman to vote for the House GOP’s “Lower Energy Costs Act,” which would increase domestic oil production, a key industry in the 8th District. She ultimately voted against it.“But the concentration of lowering costs was not really what was in the bill itself,” Rep. Caraveo said. “What they were doing is attacking things and coming at things in a...

Florida Legislature passes 6-week abortion ban, DeSantis supports it

Published Wed, 19 Feb 2025 00:18:07 GMT

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — The Republican-dominated Florida Legislature on Thursday approved a ban on abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, a proposal supported by GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis as he prepares for an expected presidential run.DeSantis is expected to sign the bill into law. Florida currently prohibits abortions after 15 weeks.A six-week ban would give DeSantis a key political victory among Republican primary voters as he prepares to launch a presidential candidacy built on his national brand as a conservative standard bearer. The policy would also have wider implications for abortion access throughout the South in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision last year overturning Roe v. Wade and leaving decisions about abortion access to states. Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi have banned abortion at all stages of pregnancy, while Georgia forbids the procedure after cardiac activity can be detected, which is around six weeks.“We have the opportunity to lead the natio...

Twins pummel Yankees as Jhony Brito falters for the first time

Published Wed, 19 Feb 2025 00:18:07 GMT

Hours before the Yankees’ series-opener against the Twins, a reporter asked Aaron Boone about his team’s well-documented dominance over Minnesota.“There’s that question,” the expecting manager initially replied. From there, his answer downplayed the fact that, no matter how good the Twins have been, the Yankees have had their number for a while now.“They’re a really good team,” Boone continued. “That team we’re playing the next four days has a chance to be really good this year. They got a formidable rotation. They got a back end, they got star players. So I don’t even look at that at all.“I understand the history of it going back, but every team’s a little bit different.”Things were certainly different Thursday, as the first-place Twins turned the tables on the Yankees with a nine-run first inning and an 11-2 win in the Bronx. It was the first time the Yankees allowed nine-plus runs in the opening f...

Bruins pick up 65th victory, will face Panthers in first round

The Bruins won their 65th hockey game on Thursday and finally found out who their first round playoff opponent will be on Monday. And, oh, B’s fans have got another finger-crossing situation.By virtue of their loss to the Hurricanes, the Florida Panthers will face the Bruins in the opening round that will start at the Garden, presumably on Monday. The Cats own the distinction of being one of two teams to beat the B’s twice this year with both wins coming down in Sunrise. The B’s won both games in Boston.Meanwhile, captain Patrice Bergeron – quite possibly playing his last game in his home province – left the game after the first period for what was club termed as “precautionary” reasons with an upper body injury. Maybe so, but that’s not exactly what Bruins’ fans were hoping to see in the last game of the season. Add the captain to the list that includes Linus Ullmark and David Krejci of important players nursing injuries that they hope won’t keep ...

Spencer Dinwiddie vs. Kyle Kuzma beef timeline

Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie took what he said will be his last shot at his ex-teammate, Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma on Thursday, calling the former Lakers forward “blessed” to be part of a LeBron James’ led 2020 championship team. Not the player who led the team to a title.“Some people are blessed to be in situations,” Dinwiddie said after Nets practice at the HSS Training Facility on Thursday. “We don’t get mad at Rick Fox for winning a championship with Kobe and Shaq. Like some people are blessed and that’s great, but we can’t act like Rick Fox led them to a championship. Like let’s not do that.”Here’s a timeline of how Dinwiddie and Kuzma found themselves in an unlikely, but spicy social media feud.JAN 24: THE FIRST JABDinwiddie negotiated a three-year, $60M sign-and-trade to the Wizards in the summer of 2021. Midway through the season, the Wizards traded him to the Dallas Mavericks in a deal for Kristaps Porz...
